The Bond-Grant House is home to the Biloxi Main Street organization. The house was built between 1904 and 190, was constructed in Queen Anne style with neo-classical character, by seafood pioneer-philanthropist William K.M. Dukate as a wedding gift for his daughter Vera, who married B.A. Bond. She later married R. Hart Chinn, who served as Mayor of Biloxi from 1933 to 1935 and from 1951 to 1953. Vera Dukate Bond Chinn lived in the house until 1921, when it was purchased by W.J. Grant and family. Nearly 50 years later, in 1964, the Grant family sold the house to First Baptist Church of Biloxi. Restoration was completed in May 2008, and the house was dedicated as the headquarters for Main Street and the city’s downtown services office. For a time, the Bond-Grant House also served as the city’s temporary Visitor’s Center, after Hurricane Katrina destroyed the Visitor’s Center on the Biloxi Town Green in 2005. The Bond-Grant House returned to being a full-time Main Street headquarters in July 2011, when the city opened the new Biloxi Visitors Center north of the Biloxi Lighthouse.
