Aunt Jenny’s Catfish Restaurant and Julep Room Lounge is located in an historic building. Before it was a restaurant, Aunt Jenny’s was a 1850s house of unknown style. Over some seventy decades it acquired certain Colonial Revival aspects and a bungalow style of extension. The Aunt Jenny’s property is part of the Indian Springs Historic District which consists of eleven buildings, flower beds, diverse vegetation, and shaded lawns. The Indian Spring area was named for the natural springs that once flowed freely on this property but because of the declining water table have long since gone dry. As the ground is slowly declining into the bayou, the trees and undergrowth increase in density. Throughout this small Ocean Springs area Queen Anne, Greek Revival, and Bungalow styles can be seen.
Aunt Jenny’s Restaurant offers a down-home seafood spot in a quaint, 19th-century house with wainscoting, ceiling-fans, and bay views.
