Gulf Coast Heritage Tours
The Gulf Coast of Mississippi has 62 miles of beautiful coastline with a variety of wonderful historic cities to explore, each with a different personality and charm. Visitors can discover a variety of shopping, museums, and art galleries. The Gulf Coast is popular for the wide variety of delicious foods from all over the world: savory cuisine, fresh Gulf seafood, and surprising international delights.
The Gulf Coast Heritage Tour Project is designed for those who want to enjoy the history of the Gulf Coast. The History of each area is rich. The natural surroundings include beautiful bodies of water and a large number of beautiful big oak trees.
The Purpose of the Gulf Coast Heritage Tours is to preserve and promote the heritage areas of South Mississippi, with emphasis on waterways, nature, history and art. The information will educate and connect the public to our beautiful heritage areas. Heritage Tours will include cultural, historical, recreational, and scenic resources. Tours will focus on historic places and buildings, cultural identities, art galleries and museums, and natural resources.
Spend time searching the Gulf Coast Heritage Tour Website to find just a sampling of the history places you can explore and enjoy in the south 6 counties of Mississippi. The Website also provides information on barrier free accommodations for those with disabilities.
Disability Connection hopes to encourage 20% of the population with disabilities: seniors, children with disabilities, people who are blind, deaf, or have mobility impairments to engage in travel opportunities. Gulf Coast Heritage Tours are universally designed trips to help you consider all of the accommodations needed to enjoy the trip. Gulf Coast Heritage Tours provides the information you need when planning travel locations that can accommodate your disability.
Disability Connection is producing the Gulf Coast Heritage Tour Project in partnership with Walt Grayson, featured state-wide host of Mississippi Roads and Look around Mississippi. Walt and the DC Crew have visited, filmed, and documented much of the wonderful attributes of selected heritage destinations. These film documentaries are hosted on this site. A brochure is available at Tourism locations.
This project has been made possible through the: Mississippi Gulf Coast National Heritage Area Grant from the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources. Additional appreciation to the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino.
The program is intended to create and maintain a nationwide legacy of high quality recreation areas and facilities and to stimulate non-federal investments in the protection and maintenance of recreation resources across the United States.
