The 2022 Art Ability Fair
Thanks to all our Sponsors, Donors, Artist, Volunteers, Teachers and Students who supported the
Art Ability Fair!
The Art Ability Fair has been an annual art event hosted by Disability Connection for 15 years, with the help of partnering organizations and artist volunteers. The Art Fair was created in recognition of Learning Disabilities Awareness Month and Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. It is a fun filled day of art and entertainment that takes place at Biloxi Civic Center. Over 40 schools and as many as 1000 participants, including about 650 students with intellectual disabilities are involved. Students enjoy a variety of about 10 themed art projects such as painting, pottery, crafts, dancing, jewelry, face-painting, photography, music, and dance. Students get a professional photo in front of a themed background, and there is a themed selfie wall for a second photo option. Each school receives a bag of information on community resources. A framed display with pictures of the event and its sponsors is hosted by Lynn Meadows Discovery Center, Walter Anderson Museum of Art, & Knight Nonprofit Center.
Some of the partnering organizations and donors include Walter Anderson Museum of Art, Kevin John O’Keefe Studio, MS Dept of Rehabilitation, Gerrol Benigno of Studio G, Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art, Lynn Meadows Discovery Center, Studio 1 Productions, Snaparazzi Photo Booth, Kentwood Water, Corso, Negrotto’s Gallery, Starbucks, McDonalds, Krispy Kreme, Gulf Coast Produce, Walmart, Coast Media, Gautier Middle School Student Council, and additional Volunteers.
