The Building at 200 North Beach was built in 1903 and is one of the oldest on the Hancock County coastline.  It served as the office for the Sea Coast Echo Newspaper, and then became a restaurant. The building made history when in 2011 it became the first restaurant to reopen on the beach since Hurricane Katrina devastated the city in the fall of 2005. Now it is a popular restaurant with a spacious main dining room, upstairs on the balcony, or at tables outside.  The menu offers dishes that are sure-fire people pleasers, and diners can enjoy their meals overlooking the beach. There’s also the Hurricane Hunter Bar, and one of the bar’s specialties are made-in-house Hurricane drinks.

Fun Fact: Doug Niolet, son-in-law of owner Ann Tidwell, is actually a retired Hurricane Hunter pilot – one who flew into the eye of Katrina and many others storms.
