Great Sand Dunes National Park, CO

The words “sand dunes” and “wheelchair” usually don’t mix well. But here you can reserve a sand wheelchair with large, inflatable wheels. Both child and adult sizes are available, though you’ll need someone to help push the wheelchair through the sand. Great Sand Dunes also has accessible campsites, picnic areas, and a backcountry campsite at Sawmill Canyon, and nearly all of its daily free ranger programming is accessible. Open all day and night year round, the tallest dunes in North America are the centerpiece in a diverse landscape of grasslands, wetlands, conifer and aspen forests, alpine lakes, and tundra. Experience a starry sky on moonless nights, or a surreal walk on the dunes under bright full moonlight.
