Main Street United Methodist Church

The Main Street United Methodist Church is a Gothic Revival house of worship built in 1895. It is considered to be an outstanding example of Carpenter Gothic Architecture, a style in which craftsmen of the period attempted to replicate stone carvings by using intricate woodworking techniques.

Main Street United Methodist Church began in 1852 as one of the Mississippi Coast’s earliest churches.  The church, which has been located in the heart of Bay Saint Louis’ Old Town for over 150 years, has had a long and colorful history.  It has grown and changed alongside the community riding out Hurricane Camille and Hurricane Katrina and strives to remain a presence in the community to offer a space where we may all experience God.
